I was born in Nova Scotia at the peak of the baby boom. I graduated from Mount Allison University with a B.Sc. with Honours in Chemistry, but still didn’t know what I wanted to be when I grew up.
From 1979-1989 I worked and lived in Nigeria (two years with CUSO) and in Montreal, and travelled in West Africa, Europe, across Canada, the US, Mexico and Central America.
I returned to Nova Scotia in 1989 and settled in the Annapolis Valley where I eventually obtained a Masters in Sociology from Acadia University while discovering the benefits and limitations of self-employment.
A career in web design evolved gradually. It wasn’t something that had ever occurred to me when I was a kid.
In 2004 I moved to the South Shore of Nova Scotia with my husband, my young son and my father.
Becoming a mother at age 42, and experiencing the end of life vicariously through my parents, who died in 2009 and 2014, my sister who left us unexpectedly in 2019, and my step-father who masterfully orchestrated his departure in 2020, have deepened my thoughts about the arc of human life, from popping out to popping off, and what happens before and after.
I am now navigating the realms connecting earth life and spirit, thanks to expanding perceptions by myself and those close to me, and my spiritual hypnosis practice. I am no longer taking new web design clients, though I continue to maintain sites I have built for existing clients.
Other interests include gardening, permaculture and sustainability; making and mending; health and healing; writing and photography.
I obtained a Permaculture Design Certificate in 2012.
I have sailed with my family from Mahone Bay to Cape Breton twice.
